Zadar Rocks With Deep Purple And Gibonni

Yes, it really does. Zadar is one of the coolest places on the Adriatic coast with its history, culture, proximity to national parks and a very busy events calendar. And soon Zadar will also rock ‘n’ roll. A true musical treat lies in store for both international and national fans - Zadar, namely, welcomes Deep Purple and Gibonni at the Jazine parking area on Tuesday, July 15 2014. And there you have it - the perfect reason to come to Zadar, not that you really need one.

Hush … and cover your ears

Here comes one of the loudest bands of all times and true epitome of rock ‘n’ roll, Deep Purple. Zadar is about to witness Smoke on the Water and Perfect Strangers singing in unison. Deep Purple have created and recreated heavy metal and (hard) rock for almost fifty years and even though band members have changed over the years, they still firmly hold the title of one of the most influential bands among rock and metal legends. Their current world tour is called ‘Now What?’ and the answer is quite simple, run and get your concert ticket.

Salty air … and spilled ink

It’s safe to presume that the majority of foreign visitors don’t speak Croatian, and have, by extension, probably not listened to music sung in Croatian. But, Gibonni is a true icon of Croatian music. Generally liked and adored by many, he is not only a performer, but also a songwriter, and his songs are honest, deep, critical, current. In fact, they are not just catchy 3-line songs, but rather layered poems which should be analyzed, rather than simply translated, in order to truly understand them. Gibonni has worked with many international musicians such as Manu Katché and Tony Levin as well as Croatian rockers such as Urban and Goran Bare showing that he has remained a rocker in his heart, even if his music has become a bit softer and melancholic. He is one of the few Croatian musicians  who can fill up a stadium and is known for his magical interaction with the fans during concerts.

Into the fire

Just as Lenny Kravitz in 2008 and Carlos Santana in 2013 set  Zadar on fire, the same is expected to happen when Deep Purple meet Gibonni for a rock concert of the year. On July 15 2014 genuine legends of rock join their forces with one of the best Croatian musicians to create fireworks of rock. Zadar rocks (and rolls). Yes, it does and you are very welcome to join in. Under the starry sky, feeling the summer breeze and briny sea air, enjoying the excellent vibe and music in an open-air concert, this might just turn out to be the highlight of your summer.
